ERCU electric remote control unit is required when the operator works more than 40 m away from the sandblasting unit. For distances over 40 m, the response time of a pneumatically operated remote control system is too long. Over such long distances, it takes a significant amount of time for the air signal to reach the RCV valve.
The ERCU electric remote control unit sends an electrical signal from the DMH handle located on the blasting hose. The ERCU control box then sends an air signal to the RCV valve, commanding it to open or close. The ERCU control box is mounted directly on the blasting hose, so there is no delay in signal transmission. Electric remote control systems are also used in cold environments, as pneumatic systems may freeze due to condensate accumulating in the lines.
